Tasting notes

In this densely textured wine, wood-aging flavors balance jammy black-plum fruits. The wine comes from a top vineyard in the appellation, giving a full structure and powerful fruitiness. This is a wine to age, so wait until 2023.
More about this wine
The Domaine Labruyère Cœur de Terroirs Moulin-à-Vent 2019 comes from one of the oldest and most respected wineries in the Moulin-à-Vent Cru of Beaujolais. Known for its granite and quartz-rich soils, Moulin-à-Vent is often called the "King of Beaujolais" as it produces the most structured, concentrated, and age-worthy Gamay wines that can often be mistaken for fine Burgundy Pinot Noir. The Cœur de Terroirs (Heart of the Terroirs) cuvée is a blend from the estate's top vineyard plots, made from old vines ("Vieilles Vignes"), giving the wine impressive density and depth. Grape Varietal 100 % Gamay Region Moulin-à-Vent AOC, Beaujolais, Burgundy, France. Style Red - Structured, full-bodied for a Beaujolais, concentrated, and complex, with excellent aging potential. The 2019 vintage was a warm, ripe year contributing to its richness. Color Beautiful, intense ruby red with purple or violet highlights. Aroma A highly lifted and complex bouquet that develops with aeration. Red & Black Fruit: Ripe red raspberry, black cherry, blueberry, and plum. Floral: Distinctive floral notes of violet, rose, and rose petal. Spice & Earth: Hints of licorice, sweet spices, pepper, and subtle vanilla from oak aging. Flavor The palate is powerful, fleshy, and elegant, showcasing the ripeness of the vintage. Fruit: Generous flavors of dark cherry, pomegranate, and plum. Structure: Impressive density and an elegant structure with firm yet polished tannins that are embracing and digestible. Other Notes: Finely spiced, with a long, velvety, and balanced finish. Food Pairing The wine's structure and complexity allow it to pair with richer foods than typical Beaujolais. Poultry: Roasted duck breast with a cranberry or cherry sauce, or game birds. Red Meat: Beef tartare, veal, or lamb. Charcuterie: Pâté, terrines, and poultry liver. Cheese: Hard cheeses and semi-firm French cheeses. Overall The 2019 Domaine Labruyère Cœur de Terroirs is a bold and assertive example of high-quality Cru Beaujolais. It marries the signature fruit of Gamay with the concentration and structure of its unique granite terroir, resulting in a wine that is drinking beautifully now after decanting, but which has a proven capacity to evolve in the cellar for 5-15 years.
