Tasting notes

The 2019 Siaurac is gorgeous. Pliant and succulent in the glass, with striking fruit presence, Siaurac shows just how compelling the best Lalande de Pomerols are. Red cherry fruit, blood orange, mint, spice and cedar build into the creamy, beautifully layered finish.
More about this wine
The Château Siaurac Lalande de Pomerol is a historically significant estate in the Bordeaux Right Bank, specifically from the "satellite" appellation of Lalande de Pomerol, which borders the more famous Pomerol. Known for its beautiful château and emphasis on quality, the wine benefits from the region's clay and gravel soils, which favor the Merlot grape. The 2019 vintage is widely praised for its ripeness, structure, and compelling fruit presence, offering an authentic and velvety taste of Merlot-dominant Bordeaux. Grape Varietal A Merlot-dominant Bordeaux blend. 2019 Blend: Typically 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Some sources also mention a small inclusion of Malbec (around 5-7%) in the overall vineyard blend. Region Lalande de Pomerol AOC, Libournais, Right Bank of Bordeaux, France. Style A medium to full-bodied, dry, red Bordeaux, characterized by its approachability, velvety texture, and ripe fruit. The wine is aged in a combination of concrete, stainless steel, and French oak (typically 25% new) for around 14 months, balancing fruit purity with structured complexity. Color A nice ruby color, often deep and intense, with a slight fire-red edge. Aroma The nose is rich, scented, and complex. Primary aromas include black cherry, dark plum, and cassis. These are beautifully layered with secondary and tertiary notes of blood orange, mint, cedar, tobacco, dark spices, and a subtle floral lift. Flavor On the palate, the wine is pliant, succulent, and well-balanced. It is rich and structured, yet polished, showcasing flavors of ripe red cherry, plum, and dark berries. The creamy texture and velvety mouthfeel are supported by good acidity and present but well-integrated tannins. Notes of mocha, chocolate, and spice lead to a pronounced and lengthy finish. Food Pairing As a classic Right Bank Bordeaux, it pairs well with richer, savory dishes. Meat: Grilled or roasted red meats, especially lamb and beef (e.g., ribeye, steak tartare). Poultry: Roasted duck or savory poultry dishes. Other: Wild mushroom risotto, truffle-based pasta, and firm cheeses. Overall The Château Siaurac 2019 is an excellent expression of Lalande de Pomerol. It combines the full, ripe fruit and plush texture of a top vintage with the elegance and structure needed for age-worthiness. While approachable in its youth, it has the concentration and firm tannins to continue evolving and rewarding cellaring for many years.
