More about this wine
The Domaine Drouhin-Vaudon Chablis 2022 is the classic "Village" level expression from Maison Joseph Drouhin's Chablis estate, Moulin de Vaudon. Joseph Drouhin was a pioneer in revitalizing the Chablis region in the 1960s, and today, the family's approach is marked by organic and biodynamic viticulture. This wine is the epitome of classic, unoaked Chablis, focused on transmitting the cool-climate purity of Chardonnay and the unmistakable stony minerality of the region's famous Kimmeridgian limestone soils. The 2022 vintage is noted for being a warm, early-ripening year, resulting in wines with excellent maturity, aromatic richness, and a pleasing balance of freshness and roundness. Grape Varietal 100% Chardonnay. Region Chablis AOC, Burgundy, France. Style White - Dry, crisp, mineral-driven, and elegant, made in the classic unoaked style. Color Pale gold with youthful greenish hues, brilliant and limpid. Aroma Very fresh and clean, typical of Chablis. Primary Fruit: Ripe citrus (lemon, grapefruit, lemon zest), green apple, and pear. Non-Fruit: Distinct mineral notes of wet stone, flint, and a subtle saline (salty) sensation from the Kimmeridgian soil. Small pleasant touches of fresh herbs like fern or coriander can also be present, reflecting the 2022 vintage's aromatic quality. Flavor On the palate, it is dry, vigorous, and lively, yet with a tender and fleshy texture characteristic of the riper 2022 vintage. Key Flavors: Clear-cut impression of citrus and green fruit, underlain by pronounced mineral and saline notes that carry through a pleasant and long aftertaste. The wine is impeccably balanced with refreshing acidity. Structure: Medium-bodied, high and racy acidity, dry finish. Food Pairing The wine's crisp acidity and minerality make it a perfect pairing for: Shellfish: The classic match is oysters, as well as crab, lobster, and shrimp. Fish: Raw and cooked white fish, such as ceviche or sole. Cheese: Goat cheese or mild, soft cheeses like Brillat-Savarin. Appetizers: Light vegetable dishes, terrines, or an endive salad. Overall The Domaine Drouhin-Vaudon Chablis 2022 is a superb example of the appellation, combining the classic racy acidity and distinct Kimmeridgian minerality of Chablis with the added aromatic depth and textural roundness of the 2022 vintage. It is an elegant, balanced, and immensely drinkable wine that can be enjoyed young but also possesses the structure to age gracefully for several years.
